It is not the first time I have doubts about the widely accepted common wisdom that wines from the best years are per se superior. And I have to admit: It is very difficult not to be influenced by the reports of the wine critics. I am not an exception in this case. Everybody knows that in 2005 winemakers in Bordeaux, Burgundy and Germany produced superb wines. And that 2006 remains in the shadows of this super year (and maybe will remain there forever). But why do I love some specific wines from 2006 just as as much or even more than the wines from 2005? I got an answer in a recent tasting with one of the best German pinot noir producers.

L'Agriturismo est une spécificité italienne bien ancrée. Bénéficiant d'avantages fiscaux importants, les propriétaires de belles fermes, de vignobles, d'oliveraies développent très souvent leurs bâtiments autour d'appartements destinés à être loués à la semaine.

Généralement, les bons agriturismo (il y a plusieurs guides les référençant) ont aussi un service de petite restauration à table d'hôtes, et, naturellement, une belle piscine.

In an e-mail I got recently from a German merchant specilalized on Burgundy I read that Claude Bourguignon - a well known specialist pedology and microbiology of agricultural soil - meant that Perse "destroyed" the terroir of Pavie since he and his team decided to remove the soil in some parcels of the vineyard and to replace it. Based on the information of this merchant an article with the same content could be read in the RVF (cf. http://gje.mabulle.com/index.php/2008/03/21/127485 ). Futhermore this merchant mentioned the GJE in his letter and the good results Pavie always gets from the GJE. Between the lines it was obvious that still the myth exists Pavie is a shallow dazzler and due to its power it dominates more elegant wines. Well - since I tasted several times with the GJE I have my own opinion.

Sans qu'il soit question de concurrencer ici les pages et les pages de commentaires, d'informations, de prix comparés qui rempliront les magazines "vins" ou même "grand public" comme Paris-Match, nous vous donneront ici, au fur et à mesure que nous recevrons les catalogues, quelques impressions générales et quelqu'avis à la lumière des résultats des sessions du GJE notamment.

De façon générale, s'il y aura toujours des produits d'appel, quelques crus célébrissimes dans de beaux millésimes à prix coûtant afin d'attirer le chaland, chaque enseigne aura quelques étiquettes où elle sera mieux placée que les autres.
